Women's March in Morristown on Saturday -- Parking Restrictions and Street Closure Information

Morristown announces important travel and safety information for the event
(JPG, 18KB)The Women's March on New Jersey 2018 will be held in Morristown at 11 a.m. on Saturday (Jan. 20) commencing at Morristown Town Hall and followed by a march to the Morristown Green where a second rally is scheduled.
The Morristown Bureau of Police and its law enforcement partners have implemented a security plan to protect the safety and security of attendees. That plan will include road closures that will have a major impact on Morristown and the surrounding area for much of the day.
The following roads in Morristown will be closed during this event:
- South Street, from Hamilton Road to James Street, from 8:45 a.m. to 12 noon (approx.). Kings Supermarket and Walgreen Pharmacy will be accessible via the Walgreens entrance only; the other entrance/ exit will be CLOSED.
As the March travels west on South Street, the following roads will be closed from 11:15 a.m. to am €“ 12:30 p.m. (approx.):
- Market Street
- Schuyler Place
- De Hart Street
- Pine Street (South/King Place)
- Miller Road (South/Miller Road)
- Madison Street
- Elm Street (South/Franklin Street)
Once the March reaches the Morristown Green, the following roads will remain closed until the conclusion of this event:
- Market Street
- South Park Place
- Westbound South Street from De Hart to South Park Place
The following parking meters will have restricted parking from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. (approx.)
- South Street (Madison to the Green)
- Market Street
- Bank Street
- Speedwell Avenue from North Park Place to Cattano Avenue (accommodate ADA parking)
- North Park Place
- South Park Place
- East Park Place
- West Park Place
(JPG, 13KB)Participants and residents walking in the area are asked to familiarize themselves with the prohibited items listed below. These items will NOT be allowed at the rally sites and along the route of the march. Any person attempting to enter secured areas may be subject to search by law enforcement authorities.
Prohibited items include€‹,€‹ but are not limited to:
- Any weapon or any item that could be utilized as a weapon
- Backpacks, packages, purses and bags of any kind
- Metal or glass containers
- Matches or lighters of any kind
- Water bottles or coolers. Bottled water, sealed (such as Evian, Fiji, Poland Spring, SmartWater, etc.) willbe allowed.
- Infant strollers and similar items along with some bags such as diaper bags willbe allowed€‹,€‹ but are subject to search.
- Masks of any kind or any item that can be fashioned into a mask
- Pets (unless ADA service animals)
- Bicycles, scooters, skateboards
- Tobacco products of any kind
- Laser pointers
- Water balloons
- Signs/poles made of anything but cloth, paper, foam core, cardboard
- Any item of protective clothing including helmets and shields
- Umbrellas will not be allowed into secured areas and attendees should plan accordingly given that there is a chance of rain.
Participants are encouraged to carpool or use mass transit.
