Attend the Bioblitz, a Free Environmental Education Event on June 12
The Whippany River Watershed Action Committee (WRWAC) is planning a new educational event, “BioBlitz Morris Nature Festival” on Saturday, June 12, thanks to a $1,000 grant from Investors Foundation.
The BioBlitz Morris Nature Festival will feature dozens of environmental educational programs and activities for kids of all ages, including reptile and fly fishing demonstrations, water quality testing, exploration hikes and more. A BioBlitz is an event where participants find and identify as many species of flora and fauna as possible in a specific location.
“We are so grateful for this, our first, grant from Investors Bank,” says Siva Jonnada, 2021 WRWAC Chair. “Funding from local institutions helps WRWAC in its continuing mission as steward of the watershed. These funds will allow us to move forward with running a successful BioBlitz Morris Nature Festival — the first BioBlitz for WRWAC in collaboration with the Morris County Park Commission.”
The mission of the WRWAC is to preserve, protect and maintain the land and water resources of the Whippany River Watershed. The WRWAC sponsors river clean ups, community outreach programs and works with towns and municipalities in the watershed to preserve and protect it. The Whippany River is 16 miles long and the watershed is approximately 70 square miles, throughout Morris County.
