Station Road Safety Work Will Require Road Closure and Detour
(JPG, 5KB)The New Jersey Department of Transportation today announced that a railroad crossing rehabilitation project, which will require the closure and detour of Station Road in Denville, will begin Friday morning, Aug. 18, at 7 a.m. and continue through Tuesday, Aug. 29.
Two-way traffic on Station Road is scheduled to be closed between Lackawanna Avenue/Parks Road and East Main Street/Route 53, before the railroad grade crossing.
To provide a safer and smoother railroad crossing in Denville, the existing crossing will be replaced with new concrete crossings and new asphalt approaches. This federally-funded project is included within NJDOT's railroad grade-crossing safety program which repairs, upgrades, or removes approximately 30 crossings each year, statewide.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NJDOT_info.
The following detours will be in place:
Station Road eastbound detour:
- Vehicles traveling east on Station Road will be directed to use Lackawanna Avenue northbound to Fox Hill Road
- Make a right onto East Main Street/Route 53 southbound
- Continue to Station Road
Station Road westbound detour:
- Vehicles traveling west on Station Road will be directed to use East Main Street/Route 53 northbound
- Make a left onto Fox Hill Road to Lackawanna Avenue southbound
- Continue to Station Road
The traffic detour will be coordinated with the local police. If work is completed earlier, the roadway will be reopened accordingly.
