Sunday at Central Park of Morris County: Resource Fair, Fun for People with Special Needs

SPECIAL DAY FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES

A special event targeting disability services is planned for Family Fun Day and Resource Fair, Sunday, April 29, from noon €“ 4 p.m. at Central Park of Morris County. The event is sponsored by DAWN Center for Independent Living.

The fair is an opportunity for parents to connect with professionals and resources available for the special needs community, including children and adults with autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, ADHD, developmental delays, and emotional challenges.

The fair will be outside near the all-access playground. Central Park of Morris County is located at 91 Central Ave., Parsippany. Click here for more information on the park.

Organizations offering information include: NJ Division of Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Aktion Club of Morris County, Division of Disability Services, Celebrate the Children School, Morris County Organization for Hispanic Affairs, Disability Rights NJ, Family Intervention Services NJ, ARC Morris, Morris County Sheriff, Family Partners of Morris and Sussex Counties and many more.

Food and fun will include acoustic music, bubble dancing, face painting, spring and Mother's Day crafts, games and prizes. Bugs Bunny will host egg hunts. Rose House Rockin' Rollin Café food truck will sell hot dogs, chili, mac €˜n cheese, beverages and desserts. Kona Ice will serve complimentary shaved ice.

A Disability Sensitivity Station will give participants a hands-on understanding of the challenges facing people with special needs. The park has a large all-access playground.

The sponsor, DAWN Center for Independent Living, empowers people with disabilities to make informed choices with a goal of living independently. The nonprofit serves Morris, Warren and Sussex Counties.
