Stigma Free Public Forum Seeks Feedback, Offers Bridges to Employment

We Want to Hear from Consumers, Family Members, and Interested County Residents

Many Faces of Recovery celebrates its 25th Annual Public Forum for consumers and their families on Tuesday, June 18.

This free public forum on mental health, addictions, and human services that are available to county residents will be held on at the Haggerty Center of the Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morris Township.

Stigma-Free Morris County poster(PNG, 12KB)Sponsored by the Morris County Mental Health Addictions Services Advisory Board and the county Board of Freeholders, The Many Faces of Recovery program is open to individuals and their families who have been involved with or who want to learn more about Morris County's publicly-funded human services.

Who should attend? Consumers and family members, public officials, providers and interested county residents

The free interactive evening includes:

  • A forum for public comment on the local human service system €“ What is working and what could be done better?
  • Personal stories of wellness and recovery
  • Employment considerations and resource information.
  • Presentation of the Terri Belske Mental Health Advocate of the Year Award.
  • Community resources, local connections, and information on wellness activities.
  • Music and entertainment by the Mental Health Players,
  • Light supper

The program will take place 5:30 to-8 p.m. at the Haggerty Center, which is located at 353 East Hanover Avenue in Morris Township (For GPS: Morristown, N.J. 07960). The entrance is across the street from Morris County Library.

The Mental Health Addictions Services Advisory Board is seeking public comment on current services and unmet needs in order to strengthen the county's programs. Agency and government officials will be on hand to address questions and comments. Information gathered at the forum will help the advisory board focus its planning efforts on the areas of greatest need.

The Terri Belske Mental Health Advocate award will be given to an individual for his/her leadership and advocacy that has benefited individuals struggling with mental illness and related disorders.

The Morris County Mental Health Addictions Services Advisory Board reviews, monitors, and recommends areas of improvement for many of the county's mental health and substance abuse and prevention programs. The board also makes funding recommendations for publicly funded programs that serve these populations.
