"It is with deep sadness that the Morris County Board of Freeholders notes the passing of former Freeholder Patricia Pat'' Maynard, who died Sunday in North Carolina.

"Pat had a great love of Morris County and was a great contributor to the county as a Mendham Township Mayor and Committeewoman, as a Morris County Freeholder, and in her post-freeholder days when she was active on numerous boards and organizations that helped maintain and improve the county's historical ties, cultural and educational opportunities, and high quality of life.
"A Port Authority retiree, who worked in World Trade Center Tower One for 14 years, Pat was instrumental in the creation of Morris County's September 11th Memorial and spearheaded the Buy-a Brick campaign that ensured the names of every person who died in the 9 attacks is included at the county memorial. Her meticulous and devoted efforts went into every aspect of that monument.
"It is among her many contributions to Morris County; a place she loved and made better by her work as an elected official and in her volunteer activities that touched so many areas of county life. We offer our prayers and deepest sympathies to our long-time friend Pat and her family.''
Pat Maynard served as a Morris County Freeholder from 1978-84. During those years, her colleagues included current Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen; Leanna Brown, who would be elected as the state's first Republican female State Senator; the late Morris County Clerk Al Scerbo, Peter Burkhart, Fred Knox, Walt Luger, Pat Hyland, Carol Rufener, and John Davidson.
The details of services for Pat Maynard have not yet been set.
