State Seeks Younger Morris Residents to Engage in Future Transportation Planning Ideas

UpNext North Jersey Seeking Input from 18-to-30 Year Olds

The North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) has created UpNext North Jersey to engage young adults in our region in the transportation planning process.

(PNG, 8KB)This new advisory group was established in the Public Engagement Plan that the NJTPA Board adopted in late 2018. It is open to residents in the NJTPA region who are ages 18 to 30.

NJTPA is recruiting members for the UpNext North Jersey advisory group. The group will be asked to provide input on the NJTPA's next long range transportation plan, which will present a vision for the region through 2050, as well as other transportation planning projects and programs in a 13-county region.(JPG, 14KB)

As part of the programming, the NJTPA will provide UpNext North Jersey participants with unique opportunities to engage with thought-leaders and decision-makers throughout New Jersey.

Events are likely to include leadership training opportunities, trips and site visits to unique locations around the region, arts and cultural experiences, and opportunities to give back to their communities through volunteerism.

The program aims to attract a broad range of young adults, not just those who are already engaged in planning or public policy fields.

UpNext North Jersey is one several new initiatives aimed at reaching groups that have been traditionally underrepresented in the transportation planning process. In the past, the NJTPA has used civic dinner parties, part of our Set the Table initiative, to engage young adults. This advisory group builds off of that effort.
