ROAD WILL STAY OPEN BUT EXPECT SOME DELAYS
Morris County is announcing that repairs to a county owned rail crossing on Route 46 in Roxbury Township has been scheduled for next Tuesday, July 10, during daytime hours.
(JPG, 7KB)The work will be done on a portion of Route 46 westbound between Railroad Avenue and South Dell Avenue from approximately 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. to repair the railroad crossing on the county's Chester Branch rail line.
The road will remain open during the work but motorists should expect delays. Roxbury police will be on hand to divert the traffic, with westbound vehicles to be sent to the eastbound lane, while eastbound motorists are allowed to use the shoulder of the road.
The county has hired TRAC, or the Railroad Associates Corp. of Camp Hill, PA., to do the repair work.
The Chester Branch is a four-mile rail line in Roxbury owned by Morris County. It connects to the High Bridge Branch, and these two lines connect to the NJ Transit line near the Roxbury and Rockaway Township border, which allows businesses along these branches to connect to the national rail freight network.
