NJDOT Bridge Repair Requires Single Lane Closure
The state Department of Transportation has announced the emergency closure of the left lane on the Route 46 eastbound bridge over the Passaic River in Montville.
DOT crews closed the left lane of the Route 46 eastbound bridge (mile marker 51.8) to permit repairs to undermined bridge bearings that were discovered during an inspection. Repairs are expected to take approximately one month.
Variable message sign boards and lane closure signs are being utilized throughout the project limits to provide advance notification to motorists of planned closures.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NJDOT_info.
