Work Necessary for Concrete and Bridge Deck Repairs

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced that the right and center lanes on Route 15 South in Wharton, which were closed Monday night, will remain closed for emergency bridge repairs.

Beginning at approximately 7 p.m. last night, Monday, Aug. 9, NJDOT’s contractor, IEW Construction Group, closed the right and center lanes on Route 15 South at Elizabeth Street to make emergency concrete and deck repairs to the Route 15 Bridge over the ramp from North Main Street in Wharton to Route 15 North. In addition, the right lane on the ramp from North Main Street to Route 15 North also is closed under the bridge.

The lanes are expected to remain closed today with work expected to be complete tonight. Motorists should expect congestion and delays through the evening commute.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.
