The information session, co-sponsored by Morris County and the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA), will run from 4 -8 p.m. The project consultant, T-Y Lin International, will offer public presentations at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Also, there will be charts and materials on hand to review, and officials will be available to discuss the proposed replacement of the Landing Road bridge over the NJ TRANSIT rail line and former Morris Canal.

The estimated $16 million project is in the final design stage. In fact, the county has been working closely with the township's Gateway Committee on the roadway layout and bridge design.

The existing Landing Road bridge dates to 1907 and carries an average of 25,000 vehicles daily. It is a two span reinforced concrete arch bridge that is nearly 30-feet wide and 136-feet long. The proposed new bridge would have two 12-foot inner lanes and two 15-foot outer lanes, with 6-foot sidewalks on either side.

Construction is anticipated to begin in sometime in the period between summer of 2020 to spring 2021, and work is expected to last for up to two years. Current plans call for one lane of traffic in each direction to be maintained during construction.

Local officials and residents, and motorists from the region who use that bridge on a regular basis are urged to attend the session on Tuesday to ensure you have the best, first-hand knowledge of the project.

Morris County welcomes all comments and any information that you may provide concerning the proposed project. Comments can be sent to: Landing Road Project Team c/o T Y Lin International, One Edgeview Drive, Hackettstown, NJ 07840, ATTN: Mr. Michael Viglianco, Project Engineer.
