A county road-paving project is underway on a 1.4-mile section of Powerville Road in Boonton and Boonton Township, with more paving expected in Dover, Hanover, and Mine Hill over the next several weeks.
Also, the Court Street sidewalks and road project at the county government and state court complex in Morristown also is moving ahead, with paving likely in the near future. It coincides with the opening this week of a new main entrance at the county courthouse.
The paving work is part of the Morris County Board of Freeholders' comprehensive plan that aggressively targets road infrastructure, with more than 30 miles of roads across 24 municipalities scheduled for paving this year at cost of $9 million (including state and county dollars).
Portions of Randolph Avenue in Mine Hill, Blackwell Street in Dover, Highview Avenue in Hanover Township are scheduled for paving in early September. Many of the county projects have been delayed for several months pending state approvals.

The county work is in addition to local and state road-improvement projects.
We ask motorists for patience as these projects are being done,'' said Freeholder John Cesaro. We try to work closely with our contractors and local police to minimize the delays. But we know there have been times when the work has caused traffic backups.''
