Overturned truck requires all-day cleanup
(PNG, 10KB)The New Jersey Department of Transportation is advising motorists traveling on I-287 southbound to avoid the stretch of highway near Exit 33 (Harter Rd/US 202) in Harding Township.
A tractor trailer carrying paint overturned earlier this morning spilling its contents onto the roadway. NJDOT crews are on scene cleaning up the spill and repairing the damaged guiderail. The left lane will likely remain closed through the evening commute and additional closures may be necessary.
This will affect areas of I-287 southbound between I-80 and I-78. The Department advises motorists to avoid this stretch of road if at all possible. Heavy delays are expected during the evening commute.
Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NJDOT_info.
