Severe thunder storms with strong damaging winds will be a primary hazard in our area later this evening. Storms may turn severe, especially between 6 p.m. to midnight, with damaging wind gusts of 40-to-60 MPH. Storms could produce several inches of rain with a 50 percent chance of flash flooding.
Additional storms are expected during the day Thursday. These storms will not be severe but could produce another .50- to-1.5-inches of rain with some flooding possible, especially in the afternoon.
Heat will be the primary concern from Friday through Sunday, with high temperatures expected to be in the low-to-mid 90s on Friday and mid-to-upper 90s on Saturday and Sunday. Heat index values will peak in the 100-to-110 degrees each of those days. If you need re;lief from the heat, check out cooling centers across Morris County.
