Morris Roads: Rte 46 West Access to Drakestown Road closed in Washington Township

Daytime Closure and Detour Starts Wednesday Morning

The New Jersey Department of Transportation announces that access to Drakestown Road from Route 46 westbound will be closed and detoured for two days in Washington as a pavement preservation project advances.(PNG, 3KB)

Beginning at 7 a.m., Wednesday, May 27, until 3 p.m., and again from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m., Thursday, May 28, NJDOT's contractor Crisdel, will close and detour Drakestown Road from Route 46 westbound to perform conduit repairs.

Drakestown Road will be reopened to traffic each afternoon. The following detour will be in place:

Route 46 westbound to Drakestown Road detour

· Motorists on Route 46 westbound wanting to turn right onto Drakestown Road will be directed to continue on Route 46 westbound

· Turn right onto East Avenue

· Continue on East Avenue/Mine Hill Road back to Drakestown Road

The $8 million state-funded project will extend the pavement life, improve safety and enhance ride quality for motorists. In addition to milling and paving, the project will make drainage improvements and ADA-upgrades to sidewalks and intersections. The project is expected to be completed by fall 2020.
