Lane Closure in Place for Drainage Work
The right lane on Route 46 westbound, between between Sand Shore Road/Naughright Road and Drakestown Road in Mount Olive and Washington Township, is closed through at least April 24 due to initial work on an expected six-month pavement preservation project being done by the state Department of Transportation. (PNG, 3KB)
NJDOT's contractor, Crisdel Group currently has closed the right lane on Route 46 westbound for a drainage improvement project, including pipe and inlet installation.
This lane closure will remain in place for approximately two weeks.
The overall $8 million dollar state-funded project will extend the pavement life, improve safety and enhance ride quality on this section of Route 46. In addition to milling and paving, the project will include drainage improvements and ADA-upgrades to sidewalks and intersections. The project is expected to be complete by fall 2020.
Variable messaging signs are being utilized to provide advance notification of all traffic pattern changes associated with the work. NJDOT will provide more information before any lane closures are scheduled.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates.
