Morris River Enthusiasts: Volunteer to Visually Assess the Rockaway River Watershed

Rockaway River Watershed Cabinet invites volunteers to attend a free 5-hour training to learn how to visually assess the health of freshwater streams on Saturday, February 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Denville Town Hall, 1 St. Mary's Place. Training will be conducted by Kristen Andrada, AmeriCorps NJ Watershed Ambassador for Morris County.

This training is part of a larger scale project to collect data on stream health and tree blockages in the Rockaway River Watershed.

Volunteers are asked to bring waterproof boots or waders, a notepad, pencil and clipboard to training. At the conclusion of the session, volunteers will form teams to assess the water at their assigned site. Each assessment takes about an hour. Over the summer teams will create reports to present their findings.
