Morris Prosecutor: Paterson Man Arrested on Burglary Charges in Butler and Multiple Towns

Residents Reminded to Lock Homes, Garages, Sheds and Cars

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp, Acting Chief of Investigations Chris Kimker, and Butler Police Chief Ciro Chimento announce the arrest of Moises Echevarria, 40, of Paterson following an investigation into complaints involving multiple motor vehicle burglaries and thefts.(PNG, 23KB)

The investigation was conducted by the Butler Police Department, with assistance from the Morris County Sheriff's Office, and Bloomfield, Wayne, Woodland Park, Cedar Grove,and Clifton Police departments. The investigation culminated on Wednesday (June 19), leading to the arrest of the defendant.

He was charged with the following:

• 32 counts of third degree Burglary;
• 2 counts of third degree Theft;
• 2 counts of fourth degree Theft;
• 2 counts of fourth degree Joyriding;
• 2 counts of disorderly persons offense of Theft.

Echevarria was lodged in the Essex County Correctional Facility pending a first appearance and a pre-trial detention hearing.

This investigation was led by Butler Police, including Detective Jarred Schmiedhauser, with assistance from Sgt. Keith Soules and patrolmen George Beyloune and Ptl. Dimitri Clarke.

Prosecutor Knapp wishes to thank Chief Chimento and all law enforcement agencies who participated in this investigation and arrest.

Residents are reminded to please lock their vehicles, sheds, garages, and homes to prevent easy access to their belongings.
