Morris Prosecutor: Parsippany Woman Indicted for Murder of Her Mother

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp, Acting Chief of Investigations Chris Kimker, and Parsippany-Troy Hills Police Chief Andrew Miller announce that Lila Lucariello, 33, of Parsippany, has been indicted on charges related to the stabbing death of her mother at her Parsippany apartment in September 2018.
An indictment was returned today (May 29) against the defendant charging her with first degree Murder, third degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, fourth degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and second degree Endangering the Welfare of Children.
On Sept. 1, 2018, at 8:27 a.m., Parsippany police were dispatched to an apartment at 3579 Route 46 East for a 911 call. Upon arrival, responding officers located a deceased woman's body inside of the apartment. The deceased woman subsequently was identified as Salwa Kahn-Tamr, 58, of Prospect Park. The defendant's husband had called 911 after returning home that morning and finding the body.
Lila Lucariello, who was identified as the victim's daughter, also was located inside the apartment and was taken into custody by police. A knife believed to have been used by the defendant to inflict the fatal injuries was collected from the apartment.
(JPG, 40KB)Investigators determined that Mrs. Lucariello had been in the apartment with her mother and her own infant daughter during the overnight hours.
On Sept. 2, 2018, the victim's cause of death was determined to be multiple stab wounds and the manner of death was determined to be homicide.
