Morris Prosecutor Honors Police Officers for Volunteering to Assist in Puerto Rico

Members of Denville, Mountain Lakes, and Morris Township Departments Honored

Four members of local law enforcement agencies were formally commended by Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Chief of Investigations John Speirs at a special ceremony on Jan. 12 for their efforts to aid in disaster relief in Puerto Rico, following Hurricane Maria.

The four police officers willingly volunteered to ensure that the people of Puerto Rico could get back on their feet as soon as possible, following the devastating storm.

The recipients are: Denville police officers Kristian T. Sandman and Peter F. Grawehr, Mountain Lakes Corporal Samuel Trimble, and Morris Township Patrolman Diego Pinheiro.

These men fully embody the full meaning of being a civil servant, and were recognized for going above and beyond their daily duties, said Chief Speirs.

The ceremony was attended by Chief Mark DiCarlo of the Morris Township Police Department, Chief Shawn Bennett of the Mountain Lakes Police Department, and Captain Keith Partin of the Denville Police Department.

It is an honor to know that there are members of our county's law enforcement family, who take their civic responsibilities above and beyond what is expected of them. Their efforts should not and do not go unnoticed in Morris County. We in the Morris County Prosecutor's Office are pleased to recognize these four volunteers, Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp said.

The state sent approximately 400 State Troopers, as well as county and local officers, as part of the NJ Pride mission to help Puerto Rico, which began on September 30.
