Morris Prosecutor: Arrest Made in Connection with Boonton Bank Robbery

On Nov. 27, law enforcement received a report of a bank robbery that occurred at the Wells Fargo Bank, 302 Wootton Street in Boonton. Subsequent investigation revealed that Andrew T. Merceruio entered the bank branch and demanded money. After receiving a sum of cash, Merceruio then fled the scene on foot.

Merceruio has been charged with one count of Robbery, a crime of the second degree, and one count of Theft by Unlawful Taking, a crime of the third degree. He has been lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility.

Numerous law enforcement agencies took part in this investigation, including the Boonton Police, Morris County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Intelligence Unit, and the Morris County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit.
