Morris Prosecutor: Arrest Made in Carjacking and Robbery at Wells Fargo Bank in Morristown

Michael Conway, 37, of Morristown, has been arrested on charges related to a robbery and carjacking that occurred during the early evening hours on Wednesday (Jan. 3) at the Wells Fargo Bank at 87 Ridgedale Ave in Morristown, Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Morristown Police Chief Peter Demnitz have announced.

Morris County Prosecutor's logo(PNG, 56KB)On Jan. 3, at about 5:40 p.m., law enforcement was notified that a robbery had occurred at the outdoor ATM of Wells Fargo Bank.

The suspect allegedly approached a victim on foot, demanded cash, and stated that he had a gun. After receiving an amount of cash from the victim, the suspect fled from the scene in the victim's vehicle. The vehicle was subsequently recovered.

As a result of an investigation by law enforcement, Conway was taken into custody the next day, Thursday, Jan. 4, by Morristown Police detectives. He was charged with Carjacking, Robbery, and Theft of a Motor Vehicle. Conway was remanded to the Morris County Correctional Facility.

The Morristown Bureau of Police was the lead investigative agency in this matter. They were assisted by the Morris County Sheriff's Office - Criminal Investigation Section, and the Major Crimes Unit of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.
