Morris Parks Programs Highlight Gardening, Historic Dress

Nature lovers, history buffs, photographers, parents and youngsters will all find something to pique their interest at Morris County Parks. Peruse allspecial events at Morris County Parks, or visit the calendar to search by date. Many parks host walks with youngsters. check the calendar.

Here are a FEW highlights:

Virtual Home School Program: The Water Habitat

Discover how some plants survive under the water, how they photosynthesize, and interact with other water creatures. Kids will make their own plant habits to keep. Pick up supplies at Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morristown prior to the class.

Tuesday, Feb. 23 from 1-2 p.m., for ages 6-12. Virtual. Cost: $12, including materials fee. Register here.

In Person Branching Out Gardening Program

A few spots are open for 10-13-year-olds to join this hands-on program that encourages young people to play in the dirt. Kids learn that with some work and a little patience the food you grow tastes much better! Time to get digging and get dirty. This spring marks the 49nd year for this fun educational program.

Virtual Lunch and Learn: Top Ten Gardening Questions

These and other common garden questions will be answered by Ann Fahey, Superintendent of Horticulture Education. Email Ann at afahey@morrisparks.net by February 18 to submit a question to be answered during the presentation.

Virtual Lunch and Learn: Fashion Through the Ages

In celebration of Women's History Month, join Museum Registrar Katie Humphreys as we take a virtual tour through the changing face of women's fashion over the past two hundred years. Discover why certain choices became fashionable, learn how to identify what decade a dress is from, and get a sneak peek at how our museum professional staff preserves these delicate pieces for the future.

In Person Family Scavenger Hunt - Ongoing

Bring your camera or phone for this month's scavenger hunt, ˜Brrr! It's Cold.' Take a photo of every item, and get a prize.
