(JPG, 13KB)Cold weather and snow doesn't mean outdoor fun has to end. In fact, it may just be starting!

Winter activities such as sledding, ice skating, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing are offered right in your backyard in the Morris County Park Commission's various facilities and through programs offered in the park system.

Welcome the snow by sledding down the hills at Tourne County Park in Denville. Cross-country ski through the beautiful trails at Loantaka Brook Reservation in Morris Township or Hedden County Park in Randolph. Lace up your skates, and glide across the ice at the flooded, in-line skating rink at Central Park of Morris County in Parsippany.

"Morris County has the state's top county park system, so we invite our residents from Riverdale and Butler to Long Hill and Long Valley to come on out and take advantage of the many parks and facilities we can offer,'' said Morris County Freeholder Director Doug Cabana. (JPG, 4KB)

There's nothing more invigorating then sledding down the Doe Meadow hill at Lewis Morris County Park. The snow flies past your face, and your heart races while you speed down one of our largest sledding hills. You have to be a thrill seeker to attempt it from the top, said Reynold Fauci, Director of Recreation for the Morris County Park Commission.

Join a guided snowshoe adventure at Pyramid Mountain Natural Historic Natural Historic Area on select Sundays in January, February, and March.

If indoor ice skating is more your style, head over to Mennen Sports Arena, and check out one of their three ice surfaces. Don't have ice skates? No problem, both hockey and figure skates are available to rent.
