On this tour, you will learn of Boonton's growth from a small iron making village to a large industrial town, and how the completion of the Morris Canal through the town contributed to this growth.
The tour will include the remains of the iron works, the bases of two anthracite blast furnaces, and some of the oldest worker's houses in town. The tour also will follow the path of the Morris Canal through town, and include the location of Lock 12 East and Inclined Plane 7 East.
To join this tour, meet at 1:30 PM in front of the Boonton Post Office, near the intersection of Main and William Street. Non-metered parking is available in the residential section north of Birch Street.
Come out and enjoy a great tour of an industrial Morris Canal town! Please wear your walking shoes. For more information, email Joe Macasek at MacGraphics1@verizon.net
