Morris County's girls softball Little League District 1 All Stars, comprised of players from the Rockaways, Dover, Parsippany, and Wharton, are in Massachusetts to represent New Jersey in the East Regional Tournament that leads to their World Series.

The Morris County team earned its spot in the regional event, as New Jersey Senior League champions, with victories over Northfield by a score of 9-8, and then over Jersey City/Bayonne by a score of 16-1. The regional games are being played in Worchester through July 25. The winner moves on to the World Series, which is being played in Delaware starting on July 29.(JPG, 449KB)

The Morris County girls, coached by Johanna Bizub-Smith, Tony Moran, and Patsy Feola, have two first-round games on Saturday, versus Maryland in the morning and against Delaware in the late afternoon.

The 15-16 year-old boys baseball team from Randolph is representing New Jersey at the East Regional Senior League Baseball Tournament in Bangor, Maine after winning the 2019 Senior League State Championship last weekend in Vineland.

The Randolph boys defeated teams from around the state, including Secaucus, Buena and Freehold, after beating Vernon in the sectional tournament, to advance to the regional competition.

This is a noteworthy achievement for the players, coaches and manager since this is the first recreational level team from North Jersey to represent the state in this tournament in more than 20 years. This regional tournament is just one step away from the Senior League World Series.

The 10-team Senior League East Region tournament runs from July 18-25 at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor. The winner of the double-elimination event earns an automatic berth in the Senior League World Series, starting July 27. The Randolph team takes on the New York State champions on Friday, July 19, in the first round of the tournament.
