Morris County Women: An Introduction to Building Trades -- for Women Only!

FREE Weeklong Program, June 25-29, Focuses Intensely on Various Trades
The Morris County Vocational School District's Continuing Education Department will host its first week-long Women's Introduction to Building Trades program starting on Monday, June 25. Four different trades will be targeted Monday through Thursday, with a special tour and completion ceremony scheduled on Friday, June 29.
(JPG, 13KB)The "Introduction to Building Trades€”For Women Only will showcase four trades that are in serious demand: Welding, Electrical, Plumbing and HVAC/R (heating, ventilating and air conditioning/refrigeration).
Each daily session will include an introduction to one of the four trades, with general theory and hands-on activities taught by instructors who are masters in their respective fields. The program includes visits by guest speakers who are experienced tradeswomen as well as visits to companies in the area.
Besides the trade orientation, participating students will receive a professional toolkit to use in future classes or on the job.
Here is the schedule:

- June 26 €“ Electrical
- June 27 - Plumbing
- June 28 €“ HVAC/R
- June 29 -- Visit to Jersey Sheet Metal and Completion Ceremony
This program is free of charge to all women attending and lunch will also be provided.
- Start Time: 8:30 a.m.
- Location: Morris County School of Technology, 400 East Main St (or Rt. 53), Denville. Building 4.
- Mass Transit: NJ Transit's Denville station is two blocks away -- about a 10 minute walk.

The Morris County Vocational School District in recent months has stepped up efforts to reach women 18 and older to consider training for careers in the building trades. The continuing education program, based at the county Morris County School of Technology, offers a wide variety of programs that are designed to get adults on a career that is in demand, or retool them for a second or third career.
