Employers and job seekers are encouraged to participate in the virtual job fair held by the Morris County Commerce (MCCC), in coordination with the Morris-Sussex-Warren Workforce Development Board.
The fair will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at noon.
Both employers and job seekers must register in advance to participate. Visit the event page on the chamber website.
Registered job seekers will receive a link to the Zoom call, as well as information about participating businesses, job openings and how to apply for positions. They also will receive a list of those employers who participated and open positions posted after the fair concludes. There is no fee for job seekers to participate.
Registered employers will be given the opportunity to share information about their businesses, as well as post open positions and how to apply for them. The cost for employers to participate is $100 for chamber members and $200 for non-members. Interested employers should visit: https://www.morrischamber.org/employer-application.html.
The unemployment rate in Morris County was 11.2 percent in September, compared with 3.1 percent from a year earlier, said Meghan Hunscher, chamber president. Many people lost their jobs due to the COVID pandemic and related state economic shut down. At the same time, many employers have begun rehiring and are looking for qualified workers to fill their needs.
Morris County has more than 600 weekly job opportunities, noted Jane Armstrong, director of the Morris-Sussex-Warren Workforce Development Board.
The Job Fair comes not long after the chamber, also in coordination with the Workforce Development Board and with the support of the Morris County Freeholder Board, launched connecttomorris.com. The new website allows employers to post job openings and business profiles, and prospective workers to search for compatible open positions.
