Provides a Wealth of Data

The annual Morris County Development Activity Report, detailing housing and commercial development in the county during 2018, has been completed and released by the Morris County Planning Board.(PNG, 35KB)

The amount of applications for development remained steady in 2018, compared to 2017. But many of the projects were of larger scale and intensity. In particular, the county saw more applications for multi-family housing and flex/light industrial development.

The report also found that while almost all of the multi-family housing will be rental units, most are luxury apartments with some affordable units.

Some highlights of the document include:

  • 212 new single family residential lots, a significant increase from 56 lots in 2017. These lots were generated primarily from two legacy projects in Mt. Olive and Florham Park.
  • 1,411 townhouse and apartment units, second highest total in 10 years (in 2015, there were 1,467 units)
  • 8 million square feet of new non-residential development, the highest in 10 years. Light industrial and warehouse/logistics contributed the most floor area.
