It may be cold outside but all of the outdoor fun at the farm will warm up your kids and families this Sunday (Feb. 5) at Fosterfields Living Historical Farm in Morris Township, where old fashioned farm days will come to life at the Morris County Park Commission's annual Winter's Day at the Farm.''
Put on your hat and scarf and trravel back in time to experience traditional farm life as it was lived in early 20th century when the estate farm opens its doors to offer many hands-on winter activities.
The outdoor adventure for all ages takes place on Sunday, February 5, from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at Fosterfields Living Historical Farm in Morris Township.
Climb aboard the open-air, tractor-pulled wagon for a memorable ride around the farm. In the barnyard, meet the Jersey cows and other farm animals, such as horses, sheep, and chickens. Discover why ice harvesting was important on the farm, and see the special tools used to cut through the frozen pond. Pitch in with on-going daily farm chores, such as sawing wood.

If you need a break from the chilly February air, follow the sweet smells to the Farmhouse kitchen. Inside the cozy kitchen, seasonal foods are being prepared on the wood-burning cook stove.
Stop by the Visitors Center to visit the Transportation Exhibit. See Charles Foster's Rockaway carriage, and Caroline Foster's Model T Ford and Hupmobile. Be sure to try out all of the interactive displays.
(JPG, 11KB)A Winter's Day on the Farm is sponsored by Whole Foods Market. Admission to this event is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors (65+), $6 for children ages 4 - 16, and $4 for children ages 2 and 3, FREE for children under age 2. Friends member are half price with a current membership card.
