Morris County Needs Some New Poll Workers: Take a Direct Part in Democracy

Morris County election officials want you! .... To be a poll worker.

(JPG, 11KB)County elections officials are seeking persons to work at the polls, starting with the 2017 primary election on June. Any Morris County resident who is a registered voter and is able to read and write English may apply to become a poll worker.

They are also looking for bi-lingual poll workers, especially those who speak Spanish.

An individual must complete a two-hour mandatory training class before he or she can work the polls as required by New Jersey election law.(JPG, 8KB)

An election worker must report to his or her assigned polling place at 5:15 a.m. on Election Day and prepare the polling place for voting, which begins at 6 a.m.

While the polling place is open, an election worker must verify that voters are registered in the district, maintain order at the polls and demonstrate the voting process to voters upon request.

The worker must also close the polling location at 8 p.m. or when all voters in line have voted.

Poll workers will earn $200 for the day.
