Morris County Interfaith Food Pantry Honors Volunteer with Golden Apple Award

Dana Spangher of Willis Towers Watson Receives Award
Morris County's Interfaith Food Pantry recently presented its Golden Apple Award to the multinational, risk-management company Willis Towers Watson for its efforts to help feed residents-in-need in Morris County.
The Group Golden Apple Award is reserved for the organization that goes above and beyond to embody the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors,'' said Sandra Benedict, Director of Development at the Interfaith Food Pantry. Willis Towers Watson has been an extraordinary partner to the Pantry, consistently providing food, funds and service hours. Their connection started only a few years ago, but their impact has been dramatic.

Willis Towers Watson began supporting the IFP in 2012, after narrowing its philanthropic focus to hunger and homelessness. Dana Spangher, a director at the company, launched the relationship by initiating a food drive. What resulted was an effort that touched nearly every volunteer engagement available to corporate accounts.
Giving back to the community is a key component of Willis Towers Watson's corporate culture,'' said Spangher. Partnering with the Food Pantry, supporting it both financially and with manpower, is not only rewarding for Willis Towers Watson employees, it makes the world we live in a better place for all of us.
Company employees have volunteered at the pantry on 19 occasions. They assisted by packing Thanksgiving baskets, distributing backpacks for the We've Got Your Back program, making meals for homebound clients through the Pantry's Kitchen 2 Table program, distributing produce and assisting clients at the IFP Free Farmer's Markets.
The Interfaith Food Pantry is a non-profit, community-based organization that serves Morris County residents by providing food, education and related resources. It is located adjacent to Central Park of Morris County, at the Parsippany and Morris Plains border, in a building provided by county government.
