Morris County Historic Preservation Workshop Set for Next Wednesday (Jan. 30)

Grant Applications Now Available - Workshop on January 30

The 2019 Application Workshop for the Morris County Historic Preservation Trust Fund will be held next Wednesday, January 30, in the Morris County Cultural Center, 300 Mendham Road, Morris Township, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (Snow date is Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019 at the Morris County Cultural Center)
Staff members from the Office of Planning and Preservation will be on hand to answer questions about project eligibility requirements, the kinds of projects that have been funded in the past, the review process and any other questions applicants may have about the Trust Fund.

The Morris County Historic Preservation Trust Fund is accepting grant applications for the 2019 funding round. A historic resource must be listed or certified as eligible for listing on the New Jersey and the National Register of Historic Places to be eligible for a matching grant.
Eligible applicants are municipalities, qualified non-profit organizations and the county.
Application forms, rules and regulations for the 2019 grant round of the Historic Preservation Trust Fund are available at planning.morriscountynj.gov.
Please note the following schedule:
- Jan 30: Application Workshop at the Morris County Cultural Center
- Feb. 28: Declaration of Intent due at Morris County
- March 29: Grant Application Deadline
According to program coordinator Ray Chang, three types of applications are available.
- Projects that are principally construction related will require a Construction Application.
- Grant requests for acquisition and preservation planning documents should be completed on a Preservation Planning Application;
- Grant requests for the preparation of Construction Documents should be completed on the Construction Documents Application.
Applications must be returned to the county no later than Friday, March 29. Applicants must also submit a Declaration of Intent to the county by Thursday, Feb. 28.

The Morris County Historic Preservation Trust Fund Review Board recommended $2.2 million in county grants from the county's 2018 Preservation Trust Fund to help preserve, restore, or protect 21 historic sites in 16 towns across Morris County.
The recommendations, which were approved by the Morris County Board of Freeholders, included grants ranging from as little as $5,994 for construction documents for the Union School House in Washington Township to a high of $355,143 for rehabilitation of the Craftsman Farm Administration Building in Parsippany.
