Morris Arts Receives Prestigious State Awards and $113,000 Grant

Morris Arts Ranked Among the Top Arts Organizations in the State
Morris Arts received two prestigious state awards and a $113,000 grant to fund its local arts grant program during the New Jersey Council on the Arts annual meeting last week in Trenton.
For the 21st consecutive year, Morris Arts was among the 46 top organizations and projects out of 700 to receive the highest evaluations from the review panel. The group was recognized with a Citation of Excellence and the designation as a Major Service Organization in recognition of their history of excellence, the breadth of their impact and their longstanding leadership.

Located in Morristown, Morris Arts is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1973 dedicated to building community through the arts. Using the arts to inspire, connect and engage, Morris Arts serves as a resource for Morris County with a special focus on arts programming in the community and in the schools, creative placemaking, arts advocacy, and support of the Morris Area community of artists and arts organizations.
The New Jersey State Council on the Arts awarded more than $15.7 million in grant funding to more than 700 arts organizations, projects and artists throughout the state last week. The awards were announced at council's 52nd annual meeting held at the New Jersey State Museum in Trenton.

Last year, council grantees spent $275 million in New Jersey; employed an estimated 25,000 workers; and attracted nearly 7.5 million patrons who spent an additional $232 million in the state. The bottom line: New Jersey artists and arts organizations produced a dollar of local economic activity for every three cents they received from the State Arts Council.
