Bridge Repair Begins, Right Lane Closed 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.
The right lane of Route 80 West in Montville will be closed overnight beginning at 9 p.m. today as a bridge repair project begins in Morris County, according to the New Jersey Department of Transporation (DOT).
The lane will be closed at mile post 48.4 just before the bridge that carries Route 80 West over the Passaic River in Montville to allow a state contractor to install a construction barrier in the right shoulder, creating a work zone to complete steel structural repairs on the bridge.
Two lanes of traffic will be maintained overnight.
By 7 a.m. tomorrow, Oct. 23, the right lane will be reopened, but the shoulder will remain closed for approximately four months as the contractor works to complete the bridge repairs. Portable message signs are being used to provide advance notification of traffic pattern changes associated with the work.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather conditions or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check the DOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information.
