(The following is a statement from the Lake Hopatcong Foundation)
It is with a very heavy heart, that we must cancel tomorrow's 4th Annual Lake Hopatcong Foundation Block Party that was scheduled to take place at the Hopatcong State Park.
After keeping a close eye on local and national weather services, we have determined that, due to the severity of Saturday's storm, going through with the event could be a public safety concern for all involved.
With over 229 vendor and booth spaces, 200 volunteers and ten months' worth of planning, we are not able to reschedule this year's event.
For a small non-profit this is a difficult decision to make. The Lake Hopatcong Foundation has a host of other programs and initiatives in the works, and hope that the community will join them for the annual membership meeting to hear what is planned for the remainder of the year. The meeting will be Friday, May 19, at 7:00pm at the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club. Please RSVP to info@lakehopatcongfoundation.org by Thursday, May 18, 2017
The Lake Hopatcong Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission of improving Lake Hopatcong for all, now and in the years to come. The Lake Hopatcong Foundation Block Party is part of the group's effort to bring together the four towns and two counties that surround Lake Hopatcong and celebrate as a united community.
