Freeholders Unveil New Online Info Page for Military Veterans

Designed to Connect Veterans' Organizations and Make it Easier for Veterans to Find Key Information
Morris County has unveiled a new military veterans' information page, designed to be a place for veterans and their families to get up-to-date information on veterans' services, programs, resources, and organizations.
The new page, developed at the request of commanders of county veterans' organizations, includes information on the Morris County Veterans Services Office, the Morris County Clerk's Veterans ID Card and Discount Program, and the county's Military Distinguished Service Medals Program, among others.
It contains an evolving list of all military organizations in Morris County, including the American Legion, Marine Corps League, Vietnam Veterans of America, and Blinded Veterans Association, with a comprehensive list of county VFW posts coming soon.
In addition, the site includes a calendar of events of interest and importance to veterans across the county. Veterans' posts and organizations can easily access the calendar and are encouraged to add items that can help to make this a valuable tool for all veterans countywide.
The new webpage also contains a link to key resources for veterans, from healthcare and housing to jobs, education and government benefits.
We listened to the request from our veterans' community to create a tool that could better keep them up to date on important issues affecting them, and for the need to enhance communications across the county when it comes to veterans affairs,'' said Freeholder Deborah Smith, who attended a recent commanders summit held in Morris Township.
It is a priority of this Freeholder Board to do our best to take care of the needs of our men and women who served this country,'' added Freeholder Heather Darling, who also attended the commanders' summit.
