Freeholders Issue County Certificates to 4-H Agri-Science Participants

Thanks to Bayer and 4-H for Backing the Science Matters 4-H Program

The Morris County Board of Freeholders has issued county certificates to three bright young Morris County 4-H members, who represented the county very well at the recent National Agri-Science Youth Summit in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and the 2019 Joint Agricultural Convention & Trade Show event in Atlantic City.

The recipients were Kristin Osika, Mendham Borough and Johanna Pipoli from Landing (Roxbury Township), who represented Morris County at the January Agri-Science summit, joining more than 250 youths and adults from 27 states across the nation. Also honored was Kristen Briney of Chester Township, who served as an Agricultural Ambassador at the Atlantic City convention.

Also attending the Freeholder Board's March 27 awards event in Morristown were Morris County 4-H Program Associate Kelly Dziak and Jennifer Burke of Bayer, which has partnered with Morris 4-H in its Science Matters Program.

The purpose of the conference was to provide youth with an opportunity to learn about the critical role that agricultural science innovation plays in addressing the world's most pressing issues.

Osika and Pipoli interacted with researchers and advocates, who helped them to gain knowledge and skills in agri-science, related to the production of food, feed, fuel, and fiber, as well as learn about career opportunities. Briney represented her 4-H group and the Morris County region on the state.

Kristin Oskia is in 9th grade attends the Pingry School. She has been active in 4-H for six years.

Johanna Pipoli is in grade 10 and is home schooled. She has been active in 4-H for eight years.

Kristen Briney is a senior at West Morris Mendham High School, is a member of the Dogs R Us 4-H dog-training club, Science Matters and Teen Council 4-H leadership club.
