Kathleen Fairlamb Moving on After Four Decades of Helping Senior Citizens

The Morris County Board of Freeholders have honored 37-year county employee Kathleen Fairlamb of Butler, awarding her a county resolution of thanks and congratulations for four decades of helping to make sure Morris County's senior-citizens-in-need received meals each day via the county's Butler Nutrition site.

Kathleen, who is retiring this week, was joined by her son, Preston, and sisters Hazel and Sharon, at a ceremony held for her retirement on Sept. 25 at the Morris County Board of Freeholders' meeting in Morristown.

Mrs. Fairlamb started working for the county in 1983 and has been a mainstay at the Butler location, serving not just meals but great humor and compassion, and acting as a mentor and trainer to younger people entering the field of public service.

She became a respected member of the community, loved by the seniors she serves and the staff with whom she works,'' said Freeholder Director Doug Cabana, who awarded Kathleen the resolution. She set an example of exemplary service, making our county a better place to live and work.''

Under her direction, the team at Butler Nutrition serve an average of 10,000 congregate meals each year and prepare an additional 20,000 meals annually for home delivery.

I think it is such an important program to have here in Morris County, to make sure we feed our seniors. It is a wonderful program and I do hope it continues forever and ever,'' Fairlamb told the freeholders.

To the audience, she said: It's been a wonderful time here and I have had a wonderful life. I just want to thank all of the people who came here today, and I will love you all for the rest of my life.
