Gets Top Designation for Third Year in a Row by U.S. News & World Report

The Morris County Board of Freeholders congratulates Atlantic Health System's Morristown Medical Center for receiving the ranking as the number one hospital in New Jersey for the third consecutive year by U.S. News & World Report.(JPG, 6KB)

Morristown Medical Center was the sole acute care hospital in the state to be nationally ranked in this report, and was named as one of the 50 top hospitals in the nation for orthopedics, gynecology, and cariology and heart surgery.

"We are fortunate to have such a great medical center in the heart of Morris County, where its doctors, nurses, medical technicians, and staff serve so many of our residents with great skill and care,'' said Morris County Freeholder Director Deborah Smith.

"They have shown great resilience in the midst of the COVID crisis, helping people who have been stricken by the virus, while continuing to deal with all of the medical needs of the Morris County community. Atlantic Health System announced that Morristown Medical Center was ranked the number one hospital in New Jersey for the third year in a row by U.S. News & World Report in its 2020-2021 Best Hospital rankings

The medical center was the only acute care hospital in New Jersey to be nationally ranked, and among the best 50 hospitals in the nation for Orthopedics (#28), Gynecology (#32), and Cardiology & Heart Surgery (#38). In addition, Morristown Medical Center was rated the number 8 hospital in the New York Metro area.

Morristown Medical Center was also recognized as high-performing in ten other common adult procedures and conditions.

This outstanding national recognition demonstrates the unwavering commitment to excellence from our medical, clinical and support teams to ensure exceptional care is consistently delivered to bring about the best-possible patient outcomes, said Trish O'Keefe, PhD, RN, President, Morristown Medical Center.

In addition, Atlantic Health System's Overlook Medical Center was once again recognized as a Best Hospital in New Jersey and in the New York Metro area, marking ten consecutive years on the list. Atlantic Health System's Chilton Medical Center was recognized as high-performing for Heart Failure and COPD, and Newton Medical Center was recognized as high-performing for COPD as well.

The annual Best Hospitals ranking and ratings are designed to assist patients and doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or common elective procedures. The U.S. News Best Hospitals methodologies are based largely on objective measures such as risk-adjusted survival and discharge-to-home rates, volume, and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators.

For the 2020-2021 ranking and ratings, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 medical centers nationwide in 25 specialties, procedures and conditions.
