Letters of intent from interested towns are due by June 28 and formal applications are due by July 31. Grant awards are expected to be announced before the end of the year.
A 2019 program update is scheduled for Tuesday, April 23, 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the Morris County Cultural Center, 300 Mendham Road, Morris Township.
Grants are awarded for qualified projects from the county's 39 towns to build new trails, thereby enhancing recreational opportunities for county residents.
The Board of Freeholders in 2018 approved awards of $798,000 for projects in Florham Park, Long Hill, Hanover, Madison, Mt. Arlington, and Washington Township.
Trails that are built across Morris County, and which are financed with the help of these county grants, makes our vast open spaces accessible to all residents, improving our quality of life,'' said Freeholder Director Doug Cabana.

They include, but are not limited to the following: land condemnation, land acquisition, sidewalks, improvements or construction to roads, lighting, running tracks (tracks used for races involving athletes at track meets), law enforcement personnel and activities, promotional materials (shirts, caps, pins, etc€¦)
