Immerse Yourself in Holiday Traditions During the Civil War-Era

Step back in time and experience the holidays during the Civil War at Historic Speedwell in Morristown on Dec. 1, from noon to 5 p.m., and Dec. 2, from noon to 4 p.m.,
Learn how the 2nd NJ Brigade soldiers prepared food, built winter huts to keep warm, and wrote letters home to loved ones. Stop by the historic Vail House to read actual letters from Union troops, and admire the simple, yet elegant, period decorations to provide a touch of home.
Attend a festive Officer's Ball in the 1849 Carriage House as period fiddle music fills the air. Learn authentic, historic dances, and take part in a holiday craft workshop. Enjoy hot, mulled cider and cookies as you warm up near the outdoor fire. Visit the Gift Shop filled with unique holiday decorations and gifts and stocking stuffers for the entire family.
