Emergency county bridge repair projects in Parsippany and Washington Township have been added to a list of infrastructure work going on across Morris County this month on some heavily traveled roads and a couple of smaller but important county bridges.

A deck replacement project is ongoing in Washington Township due to damage that occurred to a span on Naughright Road over the South Branch of the Raritan River. Police have closed the bridge and set up detours. The county anticipates the project could be completed in a few weeks.

Also, emergency repairs are planned to an Intervale Road culvert in Parsippany, where a partial failure of the tiny span caused its closure. Detours are in place, with temporary repairs set to be done next week.

In addition, regularly scheduled repairs continue on the Black River Road bridge in Washington Township and the Crane Road bridge in Mountain Lakes

Regarding county roads, milling and paving is underway on Dover Chester Road and North Road in Randolph and Chester townships, and continues on Comly Road/Ryerson Road in Lincoln Park.

Preparatory work continues on the Boulevard in Pequannock, and East and West Dewey Ave in Wharton, with resurfacing to start soon. In addition, the county is preparing to resurface portions of North Passaic Avenue in Chatham and Florham Park, Dover-Rockaway Road in Rockaway Township, and New Vernon Road in Long Hill.

The county is working closely with impacted towns on traffic flow, detours and work hours to ensure minimum disruption to local residents and businesses,'' said Morris County Freeholder Stephen Shaw.

The road projects are part of Morris County's 2019 countywide resurfacing effort that has targeted 30 miles of roads for improvements this year. Review the complete list(PDF, 66KB)

The county work is in addition to local and state road-improvement projects.
