COVID-19: Morris County Parks Re-Opening Mahlon Dickerson RV Site

The Morris County Park Commission is announcing the reopening of the RV campgrounds at the Mahlon Dickerson Reservation in Jefferson starting on Saturday, June 13. The reopening is possible due to Gov. Phil Murphy's recent Executive Order.

The Park Commission is stressing, that this reopening is only for recreational vehicles and not for the tent or Adirondack shelter area at this time.

Reservations for the RV campgrounds can be made through the Park Commision's website at www.morrisparks.net/parks/mahlon-dickerson-reservation#Reservations.

Mahlon Dickerson Reservation is the largest park in the Morris County Park System, encompassing 3,494 acres of beautiful near-wilderness and recreational areas. The Reservation has more than 24.5 miles of multi-use trails for novice and experienced skill levels.

For off-road bicyclists, there are challenging blazed biking trails. Horseback riding, seasonal camping, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and softball are recreational activities at Mahlon Dickerson Reservation. Digital trail maps are available online.

Update on all county parks:

Many of the 38 distinct parks, facilities and trails for which the Morris County Park Commission has stewardship responsibility have reopened, with reduced parking and strict social distancing requirements remaining in place.

Restrooms and buildings remain closed, along with athletic facilities, playgrounds and picnic areas.

Sunrise Lake Beach at Lewis Morris County Park will remain closed for the season and all camps at various park facilities have been cancelled for the summer. All programs, activities, events and permits have been cancelled at this time.
