CCM Trustee Joseph Weisberg Receives Statewide Leadership Award

Long-Time Trustee Cited for Outstanding Contributions
The New Jersey Council of County Colleges presented the Ronald D. Winthers Trustee Leadership Award to County College of Morris Trustee Joseph Weisberg of Parsippany.

The award was presented on Nov. 16 as part of the New Jersey Council of County Colleges' Vision 2028 Leadership Summit. It is named after long-time Rowan College at Burlington County Trustee Ronald D. Winthers, who served the college for more than 25 years, served on the national board of the Association of Community College Trustees and as chairman of the NJCCC.
It is awarded to long-time trustees who have made outstanding contributions to their community colleges.
Weisberg, of Parsippany, has served on the CCM Board of Trustees for 25 years and has made significant contributions both within the institution and throughout the region at large. The longevity of being on the Board of Trustees has allowed him to serve on practically all of the Board's committees at one point.
Notable special committees he has served on at CCM include the Personnel Committee and the Lands and Buildings Committee. Weisberg also is on the Organization, Bylaws and Nomination Committee on which he helped draft and approve the CCM Statement of Trustee Responsibility and the trustee self-evaluation tool currently in use.
The award, a glass acorn atop a metal base, was designed and created through a partnership between Salem Community College and Camden County College.
Located on 222 acres of rolling terrain in Randolph, County College of Morris has been meeting the educational and training needs of residents and businesses in Morris County for 50 years. The college offers more than 45 associate degree programs, along with a full slate of certificate and workforce development programs. Included among its distinctions, CCM is the only community college in New Jersey to be named a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security. Along with a strong STEM foundation, the college is known for the quality of its liberal arts, performing arts, health science, and culinary and hospitality programs.
The college holds more than 150 transfer agreements and its graduates annually transfer to the state's and nation's best four-year institutions.
