Estelita" Recognized as Best Novel Historical Fiction in Spanish
Professor Maria Estelle Picouto's novel "Estelita" is an international book award winner.
County College of Morris Professor Maria Estelle Picouto recently was notified that as an International Latino Book Award finalist she will be receiving the Award for Best Novel Historical Fiction in Spanish for her novel, Estelita."
The book, which Picouto wrote as a tribute to her mother and is based on the story of her family, covers the periods from 1800-1955. The book also is the recipient of two honors from the Luis Munoz Marin Foundation for its importance to the history of Puerto Rico and was selected for a community-based project.
Picouto, a member of CCM's Department of Languages and ESL since 2006, teaches Spanish.
