CCM Professor and Graduate Vivek Agnihotri to Receive Institute for Nursing Award

Recognized for Excellence in Nursing and Contributions to the Community

Vivek Agnihotri, of Dover, professor of nursing at County College of Morris, will receive an Institute of Nursing award for his contributions to nursing and patient care.

A CCM graduate, Agnihotri will receive the award at the institute's annual Diva and Don Gala at the Hyatt Regency Princeton Hotel on April 4. The foundation for the New Jersey State Nurses Association, the Institute of Nursing will recognize Agnihotri and 12 other honorees for their extraordinary impact on the profession and community.

After earning his Associates in Applied Science in Nursing at CCM, Agnihotri went on to earn his master's degree in nursing and doctoral degree in nursing from William Patterson University. He joined the CCM faculty in 2003 as an adjunct professor and now is an associate professor at the college.

An advocate of the importance of evidence based practice at the bedside, he is the author of the Effect of staffing on central venous catheter related bloodstream infections, which led to improvements in the placement of catheters. As part of his doctoral dissertation, he then completed a follow up study on the economic impact of the IV team in lowering bloodstream infections.

Dr. Agnihotri is a highly skilled and passionate educator and nursing professional, said Monica Maraska, dean of the School of Health Professions and Natural Sciences at CCM. We are delighted that he is receiving this well-deserved recognition for his contributions to the nursing profession.

Agnihotri and his family are strong supporters of the value of a CCM education. Along with his wife, his daughter and son also are CCM graduates.
