Join Best Selling Author Ken Druse For a Discussion on Shade Gardens

On Saturday, Feb. 3, from 1-to 3 p.m., join speaker Ken Druse for a fascinating discussion, The New Shade Garden: Creating a Lush Oasis in the Age of Climate Change. It will be held at the Morris County Park Commission's Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morris Township to benefit the Blackburn Scholarship in honor of Dr. Benjamin Blackburn.

Author of the bestseller, The Natural Shade Garden, Ken Druse understands how the low-stress environment of shade, cooler temperatures, fewer water demands, and carbon sequestration is extremely beneficial for plants, the planet, and us as well.

Learn new ways to look at all aspects of the gardening process such as designing your garden, choosing and planting trees, soil conservation, critter issues, and so much more.

Dr. Benjamin Blackburn's contributions to the Morris County Park Commission are celebrated every year with the giving of a scholarship in his name by The Friends of the Frelinghuysen Arboretum, and proceeds from this lecture benefit the Blackburn Scholarship, currently offered to students of the Landscape Technology program at County College of Morris.

Blackburn taught botany at Drew University, authored numerous books and papers on horticulture, and hosted a popular radio program for many years. His work at facilities of the Morris County Park Commission were important contributions to the continuing legacy of beauty at these properties.
