Description

Perform maintenance, repairs, servicing and troubleshooting on various types of trucks and equipment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Performs routine preventive maintenance.
  • Repairs mechanical problems stated by driver or acquired through road testing.
  • Will be required to use multiple computer diagnostic software types.
  • Make repairs on hydraulics, fuel systems, and air brake systems.
  • Will be required to obtain CDL License.

Qualifications

TRAINING Successful completion of one (1) year of training in diesel engine repair at an accredited community college or vocational school. 
EXPERIENCE Two (2) years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of diesel engines.

NOTE: Applicants who do not possess the required year of formal training may substitute one (1) additional year of experience as outlined above. NOTE: Possession of a certificate as a diesel mechanic issued by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence may be substituted for one (1) year of formal training. LICENSE: Appointees will be required to possess a valid New Jersey driver's license.
