Brief Description of Job and Division/Department

Morris County Office on Aging, Disabilities, and Community Programming Provides assistance to Morris County Seniors, Adults with a Disability, and Veterans. Position assists with Divisionʼs fiscal responsibilities including analyzing expenditures of programs to ascertain that contractual commitments or legal requirements governing them are being carried out.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Assists and advises program administrator in carrying out provisions of various funding contracts and in preparing required financial reports.
  • Reviews funding contracts and grants to determine various ways of dispersing funds within the stipulated guidelines.
  • Supervises the maintenance of pertinent financial records.
  • Audits program financial records to ascertain whether or not proper use has been made of expended funds and ensures they are ready for review by the funding agency.
  • Assists in preparation of program budgets.
  • Prepares monthly financial reports and statements on the review of various programs.
  • Keeps a continuous record of the amount, kind, and value of merchandise, material, equipment, and stock on hand.
  • Checks and compares for completeness various types of documents such as vouchers, payrolls, requisitions, invoices, bills and receipts.
  • Reviews financial data to ensure correct account and appropriation are cited.
  • Reviews expense account for funding or budgetary limitations and refers discrepancies to higher level staff.

Qualifications

Must possess a driverʼs license valid in New Jersey NOTE: Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience. Five (5) years of professional experience in the collection, compilation, analysis, and presentation of data required to provide an accurate account of administrative and operating costs to management in a private business or government agency or government agency. OR Possession of a Bachelorʼs degree from an accredited college or university; and one (1) year of the above-mentioned professional experience. OR Possession of a Masterʼs degree from an accredited college or university, in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, or Finance.
